iPod-a-dop

Do you have an iPod? I purchased an iPod for myself recently, 1x 5th Generation 30GB Black iPod Video.

Currently it works great. I used podencoder to convert the whole of Jericho Season 1 to mp4 files to watch on my iPod. However I have been debating (with the voices in my head) on whether or not to "break" the iPod with podzilla which I think is the Desktop Enviroment for iPodLinux.

I'll post back if I do decide to go through with it. I know that if I do have any problems I can reset the iPod's firmware via iTunes.

If anyone else does this please post your results/pictures, thanks.

I don't have an iPod, I'd like to have one though. Don't go for PodZilla, it's a little too beta-y for me right now.

RE: iPod-a-dop

I went through with it. I used this tutorial: http://mikesubuntu.blogspot.com/2007/09/...-ipod.html

It's kind of neat. However I have yet to get music and video playback to work lol. But it has a boot loader so I can switch between Linux and Apple at will. I think I'll install Rockbox as well. I'll get pictures up as soon as I remember to charge my camera's battery.

Does it work on the iPod classics yet?
